Hello family and friends,

I have been away for the last 4 days because I was travelling through the south of Bolivia with 5 others friends to explore different places like the Salar d'uyuni. I have been waiting for this amazing desert since I knew I was going to travel to South America. It's a magical place and I hope the picture I posted on Facebook/Instagram and this blog will inspire you to leave home and come see by yourself.

We left Tupiza at 6 am on the 21st November 2017. We drove for a good hour and a half to the top of a hill where we could see amazing rocks formation from the rain.

Our driver name is Tito. He is amazing, kind, helpful, and always there to inform us on the different sightseeings. He is not just the driver, he cooked for us and it was delicious, way better than what we ate in some restaurants in Potosi for example.

The first day was pretty quiet in a way that we saw some nice landscapes, some Llamas or Alpacas. We crossed some mountains and when up to 4000 m. We forgot that we are pretty high. I think it's going to be funny to go back home. I missed it time to time. We stayed in an hostel at the entrance of the parque, in a village of 800 habitants. We went to the gymnasium and played basketball with some locals. It was fun.

Next morning, wake up at 6 am. We have a big planning ahead. We went to the southern part of Bolivia where we saw some amazing lagunas: laguna verde, laguna blanca, and one laguna where I didn't listen to Tito and I thought it wasnt deep and I felt half my size in it. Dumb guy, I know :). We saw the first flamingos of the trip and finished by the colorful laguna colorada. The red of the water was astonishing. I have never seen something like this. We slept in a small village close to the laguna where there was a bar with a billard, ping pong table, and some football tables.

Third day, we left earlier than the previous day because we wanted to see two sightseeings that weren't on the same road. We had to cross through mountains. We started with the arbol del piedra, followed by different lagunas with flamingos. One of the laguna was breathtaking: a mountain, the water blue as the sky, flamingos walking around. I could die there and I would be happy. Then we spend some time crossing via some dirt roads. We arrived to the laguna negra and some funny rock formations. We spend a good 30mins there before heading toward the Salar d'uyuni that is the main attraction. We slept in an Salt hostel. Everything was in salt inside. It was our last night all together.

Last morning, we woke up at 4am to be in the Salar for the sun rise and.... I have to say: it was the most amazing and beautiful experience I have lived. The sun rising on the desert of salt is not something you see often. I was waiting for this so long and I have not been disappointed. I think the pictures will talk by themselves. We enjoyed then two hours in the middle of the Salar to do some fantaisies pictures with some funny perspectives.

We finished by a train cimetery close to Uyuni before saying goodbye to my companions. I am staying with Jordan and we are heading toward Chili tomorrow. Last country on my travel list.

See you soon in Europe. Less than a month left.

Cheers,

Ben
