Hi followers,

After leaving sucre, my company and I went more south toward Potosi, our first stop on the way to the salar d'uyuni, one of the few sight seeing I was really looking forward to explore. Potosi was one of the richest town in Bolivia.

Below the mountain, there is a silver mine. Potosi in itself isn't worth going there. If you are on a tight schedule, I recommend to skip it. The only reason to go there should be to visit the mine and if you do, (I didn't) don't forget to buy some coca leaves and dynamites for the miner. Yes, I said dynamites.

Next, we went to Tupiza where a lot of agencies will offer tours for the salar d'uyuni. It's around 1200 bolivianos and you might find some for 1100. Go check the Tupiza tours agency or something like that. I preferred Tupiza than Potosi. It's smaller, with big hills that remind us that we are in a desert, nicer restaurants around, and people are friendly. There are two dogs that followed us all day long around from the hostel. They sit under our table when we eat in restaurants. It's quite odd and funny.

We are leaving tomorrow for the salar and today, we are going to do a tour around Tupiza by jeep, horse, and bike. I will add some pictures tonight. It's apparently beautiful and there are canyons and amazing landscapes around.

See you in 5 days for the description of the salar d'uyuni.

Cheers,

Ben
