People says that time is flying when you are having fun and it's quite true. I have been in Australia for a week now but I feel I arrived yesterday. I have already done Cairns and the great barrier reef, Townsville and Magnetic Island, and I am now in Airlie Beach after spending a day on a boat at the Whitsundays. The transition went really well from the snow, skiing and the cold from New Zealand to the warm, scuba diving and swimming from Australia. I am sure the opposite will have been harder.

The title of this post is the three islands because when you go down from Cairns to Brisbane, there are three islands that you have to check out: Magnetic Island near Townsville, Whitsundays near Airlie Beach, and Fraser Island near Hervey Bay. There are almost three hours driving between the first two towns and then 9 hours between the next two. I am going to drive 7-8h tomorrow.

So, first of all Magnetic Island, I woke up at 7am to take the 7h45 ferry to go there. I met Dorina and Benjamin in the hostel and we spent the day on this magic island together. A small bus took us around. First stop, we walked through the forest to go to old forts on the hill. Nice spot for pictures where we can see the beach below. On the way back, I spotted a koala in a tree off the trail. I went closer to take few pictures and then let it be. It was sleeping :). They only do that. We then went a beach where we took a nap after few beers. We took again the bus to go to an other beach to finally go feed some rock wallabies. It was pretty sweet. On the way back, we took the ferry allowing us to enjoy the sunset. What a day. See the pictures below.

Next day, I left the city and I did a quick stop at the Billabong Sanctuary where I took a picture with a koala in my arms and I fed some kangoroos and ducks. I saw some crocodiles as well. A nice stop before heading to Airlie Beach where I am right now.

Today, I woke up, small breakfast before jumping in the bus that took me to the marina. I met some nice people from pretty much everywhere in the world and we all sailed to the whitsundays. On the way, we saw a whale and it baby. Amazing, I took a picture when it was jumping. We spent lunch on a beach with white sand and an amazing weather before going to the lookout with an amazing day on what they truly call the Whitsundays. See below.

I am now writing this post from the hostel pool with great memories and the images of this paradise island. I am leaving tomorrow morning pretty early for 7h of driving to Agnes Water. I didn't want to go all the way to Hervey Bay. I will be on the last island called Fraser on sunday and I will add the pictures then.

Good night/morning/day/afternoon/evening ... depending on where you are.
