Hola chicas, chicos,

I am finally in Peru. Some of the bus in Lima or Perú in general are actually some vans where you can see more people than seats in it. It's called a collective. My taxi driver is crazy or an amazing driver, probably a little of both. I arrived at my hostel and started looking into buses for the north.

I left Lima on the morning at 10h30 am. I didn't have time to visit Lima but I will be back later on. On the way to Huaraz, I see so many different landscapes, each one different: a desert, the ocean, the mountains with snow, etc... I should have take the front seat in the bus. It is a mistake I won't do again. It's a two levels bus and the view from the front looks stunning. The bus industry in Peru looks like flights companies. Very confortable seats, a lot of spaces, and some food served to you.

Arriving in Huaraz, I found the hotel pretty easily. I checked in and directly met three Frenchies with whom I will spend the rest of the week. I settled down in one of the dormitorio they have and I started looking into treks and hikes, especially the famous Santa Cruz. The Peruvian guys managing the hostel told me that they don't organize the Santa Cruz anymore but they have two hikes and a trek: Paramount and Panorama, and the laguna 69 for two days. We started with a small hike on the first day with Alice and Caro. The following day we went on the paramount hike (see pictures below) where Jordan joined us. It was gorgeous but not too physical. I swam in the lake at 12 degres Celsius at 4200 meters high. It was challenging and some coreans guys did the same. We finished the day by going near a waterfall before heading back to Huaraz.

I decided after that to plan a hike to Churup for the next morning: a lagune at 4500 meters, where the hike starts at 3800. Not everyone was happy with the intensive hike but I had a blast. It really felt like being on the top of the world. We could see all the valley in front of us.

Last day, we are relaxing in Huaraz with museum and local market. We are spending most of the day in a cafe waiting for the bus at 10 pm. Tomorrow, return to Lima where I need to plan my way south.

See you next post.

Cheers,
